Thailand’s Sport Science has stemmed its root from physical education. This fast growing area of study has gained tremendous amount of recognition domestically; thus, there is a need to further support this discipline by establishing a national standard for sport science profession. Recently, the deans from 6 major institutions which comprise of Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Srinakarinviroj University, Mahidol University, Burapa University, and the Institute of Physical Education have collaborated to establish guidelines and principle for sport science profession by signing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 7th October, 2009.
As a result of the MOU, the Consortium of Sports Science and Physical Education Deans and the University Sports Board of Thailand were formed. Subsequently, the first International Conference on Sport and Exercise Science on behalf of the Consortium was organized and hosted by Faculty of Sports Science, Kasetsart University on 1st through 3rd of December, 2009 at the Twin Towers Hotel, Bangkok.
